I know in Windows 98 you can run the msinfo32 to edit startup items. Can
someone please tell me how to edit the startup items in Windows XP. I am not
referring to the basic startup items under the start menu but the "hidden"
startup items.

Thanks

In both cases you run msconfig

Type MSCONFIG.EXE in Start/Run.

I like "Startup Control Panel" by Mike Lin most!

Startup Control Panel is a nifty control panel applet that allows you to
easily configure which programs run when your computer starts. It's
simple to use and, like all my programs, is very small and won't burden
your system. A valuable tool for system administrators!

Startup Control Panel is compatible with all modern versions of Windows,
including Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP.

I like having a msconfig.exe icon on my desktop. Regedit, too. Device
Manager. Other stuff, all of which allow you to easily configure...and won't
burden your system.

Yes. Autoruns is a great utility, which is the only startup manager which can list out most startup entry-points, explorer components, etc.
