ever since i downloaded and installed the admin pack (I
have XP Home and don't know if I really should have done
this), my startup group icon is missing from control
panel. I used to be able to pull up a menu and just
uncheck what i didn't want loaded at startup. Now I
can't get to this area and I have even tried using
msinfo, and i can see the startup group, but I can't
delete anything. Can someone help pls? I really need to
get rid of some of the items loading at startup. This
has really downgraded my performance. I can manually
disable most things after startup, but I don't want to go
through this hassle. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
SubZero

You can manipulate how your system startups by running
msconfig and clicking on the STARTUP tab. Hope this
helps.

I can see the items in startup in msinfo, but in doesnt
allow me to manipulate them in any way. Do you have any
other suggestions as to how I can delete them from the
startup group or get my startup group icon back? Even
right-clicking on the startup group item doesnt produce a
menu, and I am an admin on the machine.
Thanks for your quick response though,

Not MSInfo! Try this: click start button, click run, type in "msconfig"
(w/o quotes) and hit enter. Click on the startup tab and uncheck the items
you want to keep from starting up.
Good luck.
