PC Review has launched another new feature to the site today... the "Startup Database".

This section is intended for advanced users to troubleshoot the processes which load when your computer first starts up. You can look up items from running "msconfig" and find out what each of these files actually means and if it is recommended to be allowed to run. Many applications are not needed and can slow your PC down significantly.

Be careful when attempting to prevent applications loading on startup, as it could disrupt the functionality of other components. You should only filter through your startup list if you know what you are doing, this is not something that should be attempted by a novice.

If you are curious about your startup list, proceed to the Startup Database and find out what is running.

Thanks goes to Pac's Startup list for providing this invaluable information.

VERY cool Ian :)

I would imagine this will bring shed loads of visitors here, and is a VERY useful tool.

Well done mate, awesome stuff :) I shall look forward to going through my startup list to see what stuff is :)

nice idea Admin
but im not too happy about the green colour
i dont know if everyone else is experiencing the same deifficulties as me but in order to see the word written in green i have to highlight the word in black!

i think that green writing is v hard to make out, unless u have a good eye sight and a 20inch crystal clear monitor!

but why green!?? :)

Which green writing sorry? Can you take a screenshot for me please? :)

So the green links are still there even though you have run AdAware?

Yup, you got it! They are all adverts...

Try the MS Spyware application in the articles and that should clear it up :)

do u think they pose a big threat?

Not a threat as such, but very annoying and can slow your PC down a bit.

Dear PSD

The MS Antispyware is really good and that programme together with another recommended on this site has really sorted out my computer nicely.

Hope the kite is doing OK!

Kind regards

Dear Ian

I think that the Start Up info is just great - partucularly for people who aren't that confident. Really easy to use and clear - just the sort of thing I like!!

Thanks again!!
