Sorry, but you'll have to go out and purchase a
"Full Version" of Windows XP and perform a
"Repair Install".

Your need to contact the manufacturer of your
computer and request the original replacement
CD so you can use the Product Key that is
affixed to your PC. It sounds like you are
trying to use an OEM Product Key that will
only work with an OEM version of Windows XP.
It will not work with a "Retail Version" at all.

no, sorry for my misunformation, i have another OEM cd, from another laptop i
have, that has a different product ID. ive heard that you can use any cd to
reinstall but then call microsoft to activate the computer. like, i have
another OEM cd and i thought that i could use that on my computer that needs
a reinstall then call the windows hotline and tell them my issue and hope
they could give me the product key?

Whoever told you that you can use any OEM XP cd to reinstall
was very sadly misinformed and mistaken.
OEM XP cd's may be configured for specific computer models
with specific device drivers.
The truth is unless you have some Volume License Agreement
with Microsoft, you are only allowed to install ONE copy of
XP on ONE computer and then it must be activated. New
OEM computers usually arrive with their copy of XP already
activated and the manufacturer should provide support if a
reinstall should be required. Many manufacturers do not provide
a cd and perform reinstalls from a hidden partition on the hard drive.
Some of them will provide the cd if requested.
