I want to thank you all for the help you gave me on this post earlier, unfortunately I'm not finding it to be much help. I guess I should have mentioned before that I am running Windows XP off of an Update Disk. I had Windows 98 previously and recently upgraded that to Windows XP. I'm not sure if that makes a difference but I still can't seem to come up with the screens it seems I should be based on what yall are telling me. I'm desperate for a solution, I feel as though I'm doing more harm than good.

You must have an original Win 98 cd, not an OEM recovery cd first of all..
set the computer to boot off cd, and place the XP cd into the tray.. start
the computer.. the XP setup screen will appear and at some point , it will
ask for proof of a previous operating system.. when asked, place the Win 98
cd in the tray.. it will check the cd, and then ask for the XP cd again..

During the XP install, you will be given the option of formatting the
drive.. take this option..

Good luck
