Hi
I currently have Windows XP Home, and wanted to clean install to Window XP pro. Started the install, pc rebooted and encounter problems with the parititions- can't install XP Pro to C:\ because there's already an OS.

Anyway, I just want to cancel the XP Pro install. Everytime I reboot my pc it would go to the blue XP pro setup screen. How do I cancel this setup

Thanks

Boot from the CD and try the install again.

I had just such a problem with every reboot - very much a
groundhog day - and tried everything until I hit on this:
have the bios boot from CD first, with the setup CD in
the drive, but first, set the bios to hard drive
disabled. I was then able to continue the install and re-
enable the hard drive at the end.

Go to www.bootitng.com and in the Free Tools get EDITBINI
Put it on a DOS mode startup floppy (eg a Win98 startup floppy), boot
that and run it. It will load the Boot.ini file in a DOS Edit (even
from an NTFS disk) and allow you to delete the lines referring to
'Setup Windows' leaving just the original ones for XP Home.

Provided things have not gone too far, that will get you back to your
Home booting.

Then either run the CD from that and take install or Boot it, and take
Setup. Either way if you want a clean install, take New Install when it
asks where hit ESC which will allow you to delete the old partition and
make a new one. Or you can not bother with getting back to Home and
just proceed that way after booting the Pro CD again

I would run it from the Home and Upgrade - at least in the first
instance. Pro is the same as Home with a few additions, and there is no
reason to clean install unless you *want* to delete everything else
