After reinstalling XP (due to hard drive failure), when
trying to print even with Notepad I get the
message "StartDocPrinter call not issued". A test page
from the print section works, but nothiing else will
print. Using an NEC SuperScript 870 which I have been
using for several years on the same computer.

Have any ideas?

Thanks.

startdocprinter call was not issued

been having problems with this error. it cropped up about a week ago. I currently run windows 2003 sp1 with one virtual printer (adobe distiller pdf print queue) can print a document to this queue (convert it to a pdf) however if you want to print to a file i keep getting "A startdocprinter call was not issued"

I have tried printing to a file from notepad office2000 sp1 I have tried printing toa file using .ps .prn ext still nothing

I have tried deleting he printer and recreating it

reinstalling the service pack

this printer queue is not shared permissons on the queue are fine (everyone has full control)adding a diffrent printer (network) still it doesnt work

I have a second server the same model same build same service pack and patches and that works fine.

The printer is not shared

If the printer subsystem is broken how can i fix without having to blow the whole thing away and starting again?
