Hi.

I do want to restart my Home XP without wasting time again
and again with the welcome selection page. Its indeed great
feature just I have only one user therefore for me its useless.

Any Suggestions out there.

When the welcome screen comes up, is there more than one user displayed? In
my experience, if only one user is available to login, then XP goes straight
to the desktop unless a password is required to login.

You can install TweakUI
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp which has a
feature to automatically log you on with a password that should do what you
want but it is not recommended since it defeats any of the login security
you have in place.

If you have more than one user show up on the login screen that you never
use, you can again, use tweakui to hide those users from the welcome screen
leaving only the one login you wish to use. This should then take you
directly to the desktop.

Hope this helps

Hi Charlie.

Thank you for your reference, This what I did:

I disable the other two users I have from the control panel
this indeed show me just one your in the welcome screen
since I have no passwod for this user I expected it to pass
throght to the desktop as the same as supposed to , but didn't.

Is something wrong? Do I have to total delet the other users?

Good Weekend to you.

You might want to try this, I'm not sure if it is the solution though.

Go into User Accounts in Control Panel

Click the "Change the way users log on or off

Uncheck the Fast User Switching option.

Let me know if this works.

Charlie.

I solve the problem with the TweakUI. This work very well.
by the way to have many other options, Thanks for pointed it
out. I had tried to avoid unesessary installations but I glad I
did.

All Regards.

Dror,
Glad it fixed your problem. I too do not like installing a bunch of extra
software that aren't used in day to day work but tweakui made it easier to
shut off a lot of things in a single package instead of going to misc.
properties to do it. That is one of the reasons I don't mind suggesting it.
