When I was re-installing WinXP Pro, I had a power outage. So I started again.
Now when I boot the first screen asks me if I want WinXP Pro or WinXp Pro
(both options are the same) as my OS. Its a small thing but very irritating.
How do I get out of this?

Also, during the boot, I am asked to click OK for me as the user. How can I
set a default user?

I'm not very good at this technical stuff so I hope my queries are
understandable. Both are minor glitches but I like life simple. Just power on
start work.

If anyone can help, thanks in advance.

Let's start with your second problem. If you want to logon with
a specific account, do the following:

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users for this computer" box, click on the account you
want to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

As for getting rid of the boot menu, I need you to post the
contents of your C:\boot.ini file into a reply to this message.
Here's how to do that:
Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click System.
Click on the Advanced tab.
In the Startup and Recovery section, hit the Edit button.
This should open your boot.ini file in Notepad.
Next, hit the Ctrl + A keys at the same time.
This should highlight the contents of boot.ini.
Hit the Ctrl + C keys to copy the contents.
Create a response to this message and hit the Ctrl + V keys to
paste the contents of boot.ini into the message.
I'll take a look at your boot.ini file and get back to you with
the best way to solve your problem.

If you'd rather work out a solution on your own, you might want
to take a look at this article:

Good luck
