When I am logging on in XP home a large number of programs are loading, and
it is taking a long time to get working. It is probably a basic question but
how do I get the programs that are auto loading to stop loading at start up?

Thanks

.
run-type msconfig-enter-startup tab-uncheck everything-
ok-restart-check box in msconfig utility for dont show
again-open up your antivirus-options get it to run at
startup(thats all you need coming on at startup).
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm then
go to this site line 148 on the right side run this
thru,it will remove the unchecked items from
msconfig. You'll be saying WOW this thing starts up
fast,WOW this thing opens programs faster than ever, what
was I doing before.

Open the program and look through its menus until you find the setting which
makes the program open with Windows, then change that setting. You'll
usually find the setting in a menu item called "Preferences" or "Options".

Don't fool around with the System Configuration Utility or, even worse, your
Windows registry.
