Hi. When I start my PC, it automtically starts the connection to the
internet once it has finished the boot process. I have forgotten how to stop
this happening.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks

Look in your Startup folder. Since you haven't told us how you connect
to the Internet, I'm assuming you have some sort of ISP's dialer or
connection manager. If this is the case, first see if there are
preferences in that program and uncheck any "start when Windows starts"
options. You probably also have some programs that must check for
updates when you are online, like your antivirus. Only you know what
you've got on your computer since we can't see it from here.

If this doesn't match your situation, then post back with a better
description of your computer, your connection, and the problem. Here is
a link that will tell you what details to include in your next post:

Hi.

Thanks.
I am using Windows XP Media and use Tiscali as my ISP. When I start the PC,
the Dial Up connection dialog opens and starts the connection immediately.
On my old PC, the dialog box did not appear until I launched Internet
Explorer, or went to Send and recieve from Outlook.
I have McAfee running and the Windows Firewall.

Hope this helps to make it clearer.

I expect McAfee is calling your dialer in order to check for updates
and/or you've got the dialer/connection manager in your Startup. Follow
my previous suggestions since they match your situation.
