I found this information some time ago, don't know if it is of any assistance or
not? This is provided as is.
When you logon to Windows XP, Notepad opens one or more documents containing
'[.ShellClassInfo]' and
'LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787'?
The can occur because:
1. A Desktop.ini file exists in one or more of the following folders:
<drive:>\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
<drive:>\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
<drive:>\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
where <drive;> is the drive letter that Windows XP is installed on.
2. The Desktop.ini file contains:
[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787
To fix this:
1. Start Windows Explorer or My Computer.
2. On the Tools menu, press Folder Options.
3. Select the View tab.
4. Clear the Hide extensions for known file types box and the Hide protected
operating system files box. Press Apply and OK.
5. If a Desktop.ini file that contains:
[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787
exists at:
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
delete that Desktop.ini file. Press Yes to confirm the deletion.
NOTE: Right-click the Desktop.ini file and press Open to view its' contents.
6. Restart your computer to confirm that the problem is resolved.

Why has this happened and how do stop it?
