Hi there.
Sometimes when I start my computer up windows does not load, all that
happens is the fan runs and there is nothing on the monitor. After several
attempts at starting my computer it eventually loads.
It restarts ok but has the start up problem when I first turn it on in the
day.
I have pressed F8 durning start up and selected start my computer at the
last start up but still the computer has the problem the next time I start
it.

Any ideas please
TIA.
Windows XP Home edition.

Windows XP Home Edition.
Not a power problem as the monitor lights up and shows the makers logo.
When I eventually get windows started I can restart as many times as I like
with no problems. Then the next day starting from cold the computer won't
load again.
Tried this but it did not help (Reboot your computer while holding down the
F8 Key. At the Advanced Options Menu select Last Known Good Configuration).
I'm unable to make a start up disk as this computer has no Floppy drive.
Problem started out of the blue, I have not installed any new programs etc.
I have a linksys Wireless G router in line and my other computer works fine.
1024 Ram
3.6
Pentium® Processor

That's about all I can say I think.

Actually, it probably is a power supply problem. This is a classic
symptom of a failing psu. There isn't enough juice to get the hard
drive(s) spinning from a cold start but once you've pushed the button
enough times the drive's momentum gets it going.

Swap out your psu for a known-working one. If the problems disappear,
toss the original one in the trash. If swapping out the psu doesn't do
the trick, then start troubleshooting your hardware. The video card
would be my next step.

It may be a BIOS problem - I've seen some BIOSes
that can't properly start a sata drive. Try this:
1) turn on the computer normally -
after it's done testing RAM, hit the rest button.

If it boots properly, check for BIOS updates.
