Apparently a virus damaged my registry file and pc cannot
start up. How can I save my data?

Quickest way is to "Piggyback" your original Hard Drive
and Drag and drop your files to a new disk. Make this
drive slave on Primary IDE or master on Secondary.
If you have a spare machine, this works out great!
If not you will need a spare HD and then Piggyback the
corrupted drive. If you have a disk error where there is a
damaged sector, there are some files you will not be able
to transfer. So a folder by folder, or file by file
transfer will be required.

Hope this helps.
