Start up Error Msg

When I start up Outlook, I immediately get a message box that says, "Cannot
start Microsoft Outlook, Unable to display the selected folder or item.
Could not open the item. Try again." Can somone help me with this? Thanks.
 
Outlook Version? Did Outlook ever open correctly? Have you tried a new
mail profile?

It is outlook 2002. i had to do a system recovery so it is an older version.
I'm not sure what you mean by type of account. I'm just wanting to set up
my email inbox. thanks.
