On startup, a windows explorer window of the folder
c:\program files\ati loads up. I finally figured out why
it kept on appearing. I have a registry entry of a program
in the folder "c:\progroam files\ati multimedia\" to load
on windows startup. Apparently, though, it is considering
c:\program files\ati" to be the program, and "multimedia\"
to be the parameter of the program. To verify whether or
not this was the cause, I created the folder "c:\program"
and the folder "c:\program files\ati" didn't appear on
bootup, but rather, "c:\program" did. After loading
finished, a dialog appeared:
There is a file or folder on your computer called
"C:\Program" which could cause certain applications to not
function correctly. Renaming it to "C:\Program1" would
solve this problem. Would you like to rename it now?
Well what the ****? So Microsoft thinks that only that
folder can prevent from applications loading on startup?
As if all folder names in the "program files" folder will
not contain a space in which the first word of the folder
name will not be an already existing folder? That's poor
judgment in my opinion. I have to rename the "ATI" folder
in "program files" adn change many registry entries just to
resolve the issue. Finally, the programs which were meant
to be loaded loaded.
BAH!!!
