Hi everybody,

My computer has been doing these for a while now and Im starting to
worry.
When i click on start, Turn off Computer, the little window with the
options to shut down, restart o stand by takes about 1 minute to come
up. The hard disk light on my computer is on during that time and the
computer is blocked.

I have Xp Pro SP1
Anybody has seen this before,

Help will be apreciated,
Thanks,
Dani

Create a Desktop Shutdown Shortcut and use that instead of using the Start
Menu.

Shutdown & Reboot Shortcuts

Desktop Shutdown Shortcut
Right click the desktop | New | Shortcut | Create Shortcut Wizard opens |
Type or paste: %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00 |
Next | Type name like: SHUTDOWN | Finish | Right click the new shortcut |
Make sure Start in has: %windir%

Desktop Reboot Shortcut
Right click the desktop | New | Shortcut | Create Shortcut Wizard opens |
Type or paste: %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -r -t 00 |
Next | Type name like: REBOOT | Finish | Right click the new shortcut |
Make sure Start in has: %windir%

Customize the icons
Right click each shortcut | Properties | Shortcut tab | Change Icon button

I created the shortcut and when I click on it, it still takes about
half the time it did before, which is better, but still not completly
right.

Thanks fot the tip,
Dani
