Where is the list of programs stored that have previously been run by using
"Start/Run and typing in the name"?? I was trying some test stuff and
entered 4 or 5 programs with optional parameters in there and would just
like to clear them out so they don't show everytime I click on "Start/Run
and the down arrow.

Thanks,
Ed

In the registry, but you may clear them R-click Taskbar, properties,
Start Menu, Customize, Clear.

You must belong to the Carey Frisch School of Help.

That's NOT what he was asking about.

Right click Start
Then click Properties
Then Advanced tab
Then Customize

Click clear on the Recent Documents List.

On my XP home, I can

right click Start
click properties but no advanced tab shows
I can click customize next to the Start Menu button
then I can click on the advanced tab but no Recents Documents list shows
anywhere.

Thanks anyway,
Ed

You're using the Classic Start Menu. The (XP) Start Menu has the Advanced
tab.

Click the Clear button, it clears...
the list of recently accessed documents, programs, and Web sites from the
Documents menu.

Clear IE History, AutoComplete, Clear the TIF, Clear the Run MRU, Typed
URL's
and Clear List:

XP Start Menu:
Right click the Start button | Properties | Customize button | Advanced tab
| Recent Documents | Clear List.

Classic Start Menu:
Right click the Start button | Properties | Customize button | Clear button

Clear button
[[Removes the list of recently accessed documents, programs, and Web sites
from the Documents menu.]]

Actually I'm NOT using the Classic Start Menu. I have the other radio button
checked. Your procedure for the "XP Start Menu" below is what I've been
trying to do but there is NO "recent documents " shown.
Thanks anyway,
Ed

OK, I went into Tweakui and checked the box under Explorer to allow recent
documents on start menu. Now it shows like it should. thanks all,

Ed

Ed,

Your original question was where is the Run MRU location.

MRU = Most Recenty Used

Here ....

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

MRU lists contain information such as the names and/or locations of the last
files you have accessed. But they are located ALL OVER your registry, and
for almost ANY file type.

Here are some of the locations...
Registry MRU Locations
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/RegistryMRU.htm

The Clear button does not show anything. It is just an easy way to clear
all the items in several MRU locations in the registry without having to
directly access the registry.

To do the job right...

Wesley,

Thanks, that's really what I wanted to find. I did a "find" with Regedit for
a couple of the entries that I had showing but it never found anything.
Strange, I think or is there a reason for that.
