i have a question when i go to start and then all programs
the columns that show the programs are very wide like
i could make them half the width
than they are now and that would be fine
so my question is how do i make
the columns smaller in width
tia bgame
 
It's the size of the largest entry (to a certain sensible limit). Rename it shorter.

Right-click the longest named entry, rename it something shorter.
