I notice since I reformatted my hard drive that XP now shows the "user name"
at the top of the Start Menu. What options lets you display image as
opposed to name? It always showed the "user account" selected image before
instead of identifying by name.
 
Hi Jany,

The Welcome Screen should be enabled for the user account image to appear at
the top of the Start menu. The user name also will appear aside.

Change the Appearance from Windows Classic to Windows XP

is resolved.

Hi Ramesh,

Well darn it! You're absolutely right :). I am using the Welcome Screen
(fast switch etc etc). However the theme was Windows Classic. I guess I
changed desktops right after loading XP without even thinking about it.
Anyway as soon as I selected XP from the "theme" option, the Start Menu
displayed an image instead.
I've used XP since the first release and never had that happen.
