start menu

Can someone please help!?
When I go to my start button & then the 'All Programs' more then half of the
list has turned yellow. I thought they did that when first added, not after
months of constant use.
What has happened. No new programs have been added & nothing has been
removed.

1. Right-click on the Taskbar and Choose Properties
2. Click Start Menu tab.
3. Click Customize button
4. Click Advanced Tab
5. Uncheck the option "Highlight newly installed programs"
