Start Menu Links Broken with SP2

I have XP Home Edition, and after installing SP2 the default links available
from the start menu - specifically My Documents, My Pictures, My Music,
Control Panel, etc. - do not work. I click on them and nothing happens. The
links from the "All Programs" flyout seem to work fine.

To ensure it was SP2 that was the problem, I uninstalled it and the
shortcuts were working again. I reinstalled SP2 and they are broken again.

Has anyone else run into this issue and have a resolution that includes
keeping SP2 installed?

Liz, did you properly prepare the system for SP2 by, among other things,
doing a thorough scan for malware? See these links:
