RUNNING WINDOWS XP HOME ON A COMPAQ.

THE SYSTEM WILL NOT STAY IN STANDBY. IT GOES INTO STANDBY
BUT THEN COMES OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I SHUT DOWN
ALL PROGRAMS BUT IT STILL SEEMS TO HAPPEN.

ANYONE HELP??

THANKS.

I have the power options set to standby in say 3
minutes. It goes into standby mode then comes up again.
I ususllyjust move the mouse to get out of standby.

You know, it's not really wise to go into Standby after 3 minutes. You're
subjecting your system to frequent powering up, which will reduce the life
of your hardware, including your monitor. For short term periods, you should
be using a screen saver. Standby is for when you will not be using your
computer for an extended period of time, like overnight.

Ridiculous giberish. Where do you get those ideas? It's also bad to drive your
car because you wear out the tires.

Disconnect the mouse and then go into standby as a means of checking whether
or not the mouse is causing it.
