I need to find out how to calculate standard deviation for a graduate class
on research methods & analysis. I was told Access had this feature but I
can't find it! Hlep!

As a recovering statistics instructor, I would say that learning how to use
Access to calculate a standard deviation is NOT the same as learning how to.
Are you supposed to "get an answer", or to "show your work"?

Have you tried Access (2003) Help?

I am not sure whether theese are available in earlier versions of Access but
in Access 2003, these are:

Aggregate functions (used in Queries / SQL)

StDev and StDevP

Domain functions:

DStDev and DStDevP

I just need to get the answer. There is a statiscal package available from
the University, but the professor also said we could find it in Access. The
other postings gave me some hints to find it in Access. I'm just really bad
at learning on my own this type of computer thing (I have gotten better..I'm
a MSLIS (library and infomation science) student at UNT so my focus is on
research...I'll give it another try. Any additional words of wisdom will be
greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

If I recall correctly, MS Excel also has a StDev function, both for a sample
and for a population (they're different, you know...<g>).

WTF,why would you EVER say anything (unwarranted) about Excel in an
Access group

you deserve to be banished from this newsgroup; you ****ing pansy..
maybe if you knew how to use SQL Server you wouldn't still be stuck
using Excel for reporting lol
