"Stand By" is greyed-out & disabled...

....on the Start->Turn Off Your Computer menu.

My only choices are Restart and Turn Off.
This started yesterday. Any suggestions on what
might be wrong and how to correct it?

try doing a system restore..but first try this..

right click an empty spot on your desktop>properties>screen saver>power
option> check to see if stand by is disabled.
 
wait, forget what I said, I was thinking about something else...sorry, I'll
put my 'read the posts more carefully' glasses on.
