Hi guys,

I am using Access XP as a back and front end file and
works fantastic. However, In order for the file to work
it needs to have access install in a work station. I like
to use this application file in a workstation that does
not have access install. Is there anyway I could do
that ?. What are my options ?.

Thank you
Alex Bombino

Any Access application must have Access installed.

You can try and purchase Office XP Developer, which will allow you to
package your application together with a royalty-free run-time version of
Access. Users who don't already have Access installed will be able to
install the run-time version and use your application.

Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer sells previous versions of Office.

One possibility is to check out sites that specialize in old software
products, such as http://www.emsps.com/oldtools/ or
http://recycledsoftware.com/

Another is to look at someplace like eBay to see whether anyone's trying to
see their old versions (Note, though, that products purchased this way
aren't always legal...)

If you don't want to go the Developer route, your only other option is to
rewrite the application in some other technology.

Purchase the "Office Developer's Edition"; it may not be available
from Microsoft any more, they're on 2003 by now. This does not let you
run a database without Access, but it does let you create a "runtime"
version of msaccess which can be installed royalty-free.
