Stalled message transmission

After a recent Microsoft security update, I have messages hang up in the
outbox. pop up says "Outlook has begun transmitting this message" and it
stays there, can't do anything with it.

Ideas or comments?

Set outlook offline (File menu) and wait 5 min then delete.

Thx, that worked. I also did the repair routine in office 2007 and fussed
with the spam settings.

That darned Mac commercial about the bumbling PC really touches home at
times like this.
