SSN Masking

Hi, we have many legacy Access systems which use the SSN as key fields.

We now have a requirement (dependent on user level) to mask the SSN on
certain forms and reports, either to hide altogether, show in full or mask as
XXXX-XX-1234.

I’m not sure if this is possible in Access or what the best approach would be.

One major problem I can see is the Access reporting tool used has direct
access to the fields and tables.

Any help or pointers will be much appreciated.
