SSL

I clicked on clear ssl state in IE properties-content page. Did I erase something important? If so, is there some way to restore what was there? I don't know much about computers. I did go to help and looked up ssl and it seemed to be important as far as protecting card numbers and other protected data. I don't want to do any kind of banking or shopping til I find out what to do. Thanks for any help.
