Srvice Pack 2 wrong build

can you help me. i've got windows xp pro on my computer but when i try to
install service pack 2 it goes thrugh the process then says i have the wrong
build and it wont install i need build 2600 whatever that means.

We cannot help if you do not tell us what you have..

Start button --> RUN --> winver --> OK

Type in the entire line that starts with 'Version 5.1 (Build...' in reply to
this...

this is what it says when I go to run and type in winver.

There is your problem.

From what you have given here - you do not have a purchased version of
Windows XP installed.
You have Release Candidate 2 (RC2) of Windows XP installed - which was
released way back in August 2001. It is "beta" software - released before
the final version of Windows XP was released. It's expected life was "until
the full release of Windows XP..." --> you are way past that.

Purchase a full version of Windows XP and try a repair installation.
