SR. NO. GENERATION AFTER DOC. TYPED

i have typed 20 pages document in Ms. word with some 30 Nos. of Headings. now
I want to generate Sr. Nos. (eg. 1. 2. 3. ......) on every Heading. Please
tell me short and quick way to do this. thanks
