Please Help! I am trying to delete unnecessary files on my computer. I have come across something called SQL server. Do I need this? I am not a computer whiz and am not sure about some folders and files on my computer, but if I don't need them .... then I want them gone! Can someone help me? Or is there some kind of program to help me decide what is necessary and what I can delete???

I would not delete ANYTHING, since you admit you are not a "Computer Wiz".
As far as your question, go to www.google.com , and type in SQL server, as
I did. I really don't know for sure, but it appears as though you should NOT
delete anything that has to do with this...I was going to wait till someone
else that knew for sure, answered your question, but it sounded like you you
MAY proceed...hope you sit on this, till someone else replies. Good Luck.

Chances are you do need this folder. SQL Server is a rational database
product produced by Microsoft. There are a number of application on the
market that use a version of SQL Server called MSDE to run. Chances are if
you see a directory calll SQL Server on your machine, a program that was
installed on the computer is using it. I would shy away from deleting
directories in the Program Files directory.

If you need to reclaim space on your PC, try deleting your temporary files
or some of the files related to the web. You can clean up your temp files
by right clicking on your hard drive icon in My computer and selecting
"Clean Up". This will bring up a list of files that are "safe" to delete.

You can also try re-naming a directory you are thinking of deleting, run
all the programs you typically use and see if you notice any impact.
Programs that depend on the files you rename will not launch if it can't
find files it is dependent on.

Good Luck

I'm not a guru either and I am waiting for some help myself. But I do use SQL and can answer some of your questions

SQL stands for Sequence Querry Language and it is a relational database engine. We use it to query large amounts of data from many different databases quickly

If you paid for this engine you may as well keep it. It may come in handy in the future if you need to download information off the internet and want to search through it for whatever interests you. Who knows, you may learn how to use it in the future

I agree with Ilya. There are better ways to lighten the load and speed up your machine than deleting perfectly good software. Use the Clean Disk method or add RAM
