I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good spyware tool that isn't to
complicated to run and is either free or not to expensive. I have adware but
I would like something that works a little better or that could work with
adware??? Thank you Brian

To deal with issues caused by any sort of "adware" and/or
"spyware,"such as Gator, Comet Cursors, Smiley Central, Xupiter,
Bonzai Buddy, or KaZaA, and their remnants, that you've deliberately
(but without understanding the consequences) installed, two products
that are quite effective (at finding and removing this type of
scumware) are Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search &
Destroy from www.safer-networking.org/. Both have free versions.
It's even possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to "immunize" your
system against most future intrusions. I use both and generally
perform manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies, etc.

Additionally, manual removal instructions for the most common
varieties of scumware are available here:

I regularly use Ad-Aware and after hearing about SB S&D, I d/l that
and tried it out. The setup of the program appeared to go well and I
was able to update to the newest set of definitions. Once it finished
scanning, however, I could never get it to finish working for me.

I turned off the registry backup on the second install, thinking that
might be it, but it didn't solve the problem either.
