I 'had' the spybot virus on my computer, which is now
gone, in a sense. Apparently, it is in my system restore
and I continue to get a warning that I have this virus and
it says that it is in the restore file. How do I remove
this file.

Also, I would like to delete previous restores....it looks
like I have about 2 months worth of restores backed
up...according to the calendar anyway. I would think the
virus can be deleted this way, as well.

Thanks
Carol

.
apparently you have anti-virus software... load that CD
and it has tools to remove most viruses. as to the second
part of removing restore points. click start>point to
programs>point to accessories> point to systems
tools>click of disk clean up... on the back tab there is
an option to perform this. after you do this you must
defrag. all the same steps except click on disk
defragmenter. try defragging at least once a week. and
go to http://spybot.safer-networking.de/ and get all the
updates be careful setting the automatic settings

I also "had" the spybot virus and although Norton scan
using yesterdays definitions say I'm clean i still have
many dysfunctions including not being able to delete a
folder i created in "My documents" even though complying
with instructions on "C:\downloads\308421 - HOW TO Take
Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP.htm.." it
shows up as read only and can't be changed. "cont-alt-del"
doesn't work right ; Windows Task Manager appears briefly
then disappears. spybot it says creates a file
with 'tftp' in it in c:\windows\system32\ Norton's fix
didn't remove it. How do I know if it should be there or
not? I feel your pain.

Just so you know, that is not Spybot the spyware remover. If you want to get
rid of that annoyance, go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and download
Stinger which will remove it. So you are fully aware, this IS a removal tool
from Macafee that knows around 44 different virus/trojans etc and will
remove any it finds in one pass as opposed to having to download 44 and run
them one at a time from Nortons. Unfortunately, Nortons is not as good as
Macafee at removing some things from your machine but Stinger will remove
any of those 44 it finds.
