I'm using a PC with windows XP SP2 and I've been trying to run Spybot
1.3 with the autoimmunization parameter set ( ie ..\SpybotSD.exe
/autoclose /autoupdate /autoimmunize /autocheck /autofix /taskbarhide)
via a batch file, but it doesn't appear to be having the effect I was
expecting. I do have a good reason for running it from a batch file.

If I open Spybot and immunize my computer manually via the option
within spybot's immunize pane then as expected the Restricted sites &
Privacy sites lists within Internet Options become populated.

If I undo the immunization then the Restricted sites & Privacy sites
lists become empty.

With these 2 lists empty, I would have thought that running spybot via
my batch file with the autoimmunize parameter set should populate the
restricted sites and privacy sites lists? It doesn't.

Am I misunderstanding the meaning of the autoimmunize parameter?

Spybot S & D has it's good features, however, instead of Immunize use
SpywareBlaster.

2) SpywareBlaster
[[SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from
ever being installed.
The most important step you can take is to secure your system. And
SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.]]

Even Spybot S & D's help recommends it.

Permanent Internet Explorer immunity
[[Similar to JavaCools SpywareBlaster, this allows you to tweak some
internal Internet Explorer settings to block the installation of known
spyware (and similar threats) installers. Spybot-S&D is able to set all
entries for those that are in its database to be blocked. If you want to
distinguish, you should install SpywareBlaster.]]

spybot is free.as well as ad-aware.
doesn't spyware blaster cost $ ?

The reason I need to use Spybot is that we have it installed on a small
network of computers at work. Spybot is free for this kind of use
SpywareBlaster isn't.

Anyway that still doesn't answer my problem. Any Ideas?

Steve,

SpywareBlaster Business Use
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbbusiness.html

[[Business use licensing policy for SpywareBlaster 3.2.

ALL USERS may download SpywareBlaster 3.2 for free.

While we strongly recommend that Business users purchase an AutoUpdate
subscription to ensure up-to-date protection, this is no longer a license
requirement. Business users may download, evaluate and/or use SpywareBlaster
3.2 without purchasing an AutoUpdate subscription.

ANYONE wishing to use the AutoUpdate feature must purchase an AutoUpdate
subscription for each computer ($9.95 per year per computer) and have each
and every computer perform its own check for updates. This will only be
efficient for users who wish to use SpywareBlaster on a small number of
machines. We realize that this structure is not optimal for those businesses
and institutions with many machines.

A SpywareBlaster network version is in development. We anticipate its
release within the next 2 months. The network version will assist
administrators of large networks in protecting large numbers of machines,
and in keeping that protection up-to-date.

If you wish to be notified when the network version is available, please
send an email to (e-mail address removed) with the subject
"Network Version Info". ]]
