This one item is representing 50% of my resourses for a
3.2 G and 1G of Ram machine. Isn't this a little much?
This occurred when I installed XP Professional Service
Pack 2. What can be done?

spoolsv.exe is used for windows xp print spool. You may
have a large que to your printer. Check the queue for
printer. If that's ok, It could be maleware that run from
startup with the same name but referencing different
registry. I would run from start /run msconfig.exe. Open
up startup tab and see if it's there.

If its there in startup you need to get rid of it. First
in tast manager end the process. Second the registry .
Spybot can remove this maleware registry items. Then you
need to get rid of the startup entry. Hyjackthis can
remove this.

you can get it with spybot free at :

http://www.net-integration.net/index.php?
page=spybotsd#clean

I suggest you run the spybot scan. It will run awhile.
WHen finished ,clean recommended. Some entries will be in
memory. The program ask if you would like to fix at next
boot up. Reply yes

It has an automatic backup so you can restore fixes.

Highjackthis is available free at:

Run a scan and look for 04 startup entries. Uncheck 04
box for spoolv.exe and run fix.
