Am running Windows XP SP2. There is a program or something running in the
background. Task Manager does not show it. I have run Registry Machanic,
Spyware Doctor, PcBug Doctor, and Spybot in hopes that would get rid of it.
NOT. I even get a Windows "DING" about once an hour. I guess it finished what
it was doing. NOT. I can not muti-task. It ramps my CPU to 100% and freezes
everything for about 5 minutes, then lets go. Can somebody out there please
tell me where this booger is hiding and how to get too it?

Download and execute Process Explorer from Sysinternals...
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html

See if this shows anything running that shouldn't and report back your findings.

Thank you. At least at this time I found out what the "DING" is coming from.
I have a software program called FreeRAM XP Pro. What ever it did, it cranked
the CPU to about 70%. Also, before I could open Process Explorer, I got a
message to download "Debugging Tools for Windows 32-bit Version". I then was
able to open Process Explorer.
