Our product, used in an industrial control situtation, boots from an IDE
hard drive and occasionally has a need to read or write some files on the
drive. Most of the time, however, the drive is not accessed. Our customer is
now getting concerned about hard drive reliability and does not want to pay
the premium for an IDE flash drive.
What are my options with XPE to get the disk to spin down? Does this mean
including a huge power management component? If so, how are the timeout
settings made? Do I have to base my whole h/w configuration as an APM PC? I
just want to spin down the disk -- not affect the screen, input devices,
etc.
