Spilt Form vs. using Subforms

I am new to this and am trying to decide between using a split form or a
subform to display my information. Can some one help me out with the
advantages and disadvantages of both?

A split form contains information about the 1 side of a 1 to many
relationship. A subform contains records in the many side of the
relationship.
