Spellcheck with Office XP

I bough my daughter the MS Office XP 2003 Student/Teacher edition. It's
supposed to have the full versions of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
I ran Word and did a spellcheck on the document. Was I surprised to see that
what I thought were obvious misspellings went unrecognized.

For example, the spellcheck failed to recognize:

Mathematicl
Examinaiton
Evaluaiton

....and concluded the spellcheck was complete w/no errors.

What do I need to do to correct this version of the spellchecker?

Select the entire document (shortcut: Ctrl+A), go to Tools > Language
Set Language, and make sure that the checkbox for "Do not check
spelling or grammar" is cleared. Also make sure the correct version of
English (US, UK, etc.) is selected.

This was already in place, both the "Do not chech spelling..." box is clear
and all the English language options were selected (by default). Any other
ideas?

For whatever reason, a re-install fixed the problem...
Thanks to those of you who offered great tips.
