My OS is Windows 2000 Profesional, I am running IE 6, and Outlook Express 6 . Why can I not activate my spellcheck? when I go to tools, I have a dead tab that says: Speeling... F7, is spellcheck acually loaded but not installed or activated? what am I doing wrong? Any info will help. Thanx....dg

Greetings --

Outlook Express, as you've just discovered, has no spell-checking
capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies upon the presence of
certain specific other Microsoft applications, such as the Office
Suite, Word, or the Works _Suite_ (which includes Word, not the
regular Works). There are also some 3rd-party shareware/freeware
solutions available at any of the many shareware sites on the Internet

Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:

Nothing to do with the operating system. Ask in one of the OE groups.

I believe the regular Works will provide spell checking for OE but it's
been a long time since I've run either?

If an office suite is needed Open Office is free and the spell check
feature WILL work with OE. Personally, I find that older versions of
MS Office such as Office 97 will work with OE also and, IMHO, Office 97
is MUCH preferable to Open Office Suite OR the later versions of MS
Office. Office 97 is often available on Ebay inexpensively.
