Spell Check Not working

Hello i have office 2000 installed on a Xp-pro system, for some reason my
spell check stoped working. It works on some times but not other times.
example
i typed in reqeust and it did not underline the word in red. any help would
be great thanks.

If you select such a word, then go to Tools/Language/Set Language, which
language is marked? And is the checkbox to not check spelling or grammar
activated?
