I searched and searched for ways to fix my spell check problem. I never liked any of the options because I didn't have a Windows XP CD to make repairs and I haven't any idea how to do a systems restore. After finally looking everything over... I took the leap for downloading the free Spell Checker OE 2.0 at www.majorgeeks.com posted over and over again here. I wasn't sure when it asked if I wanted to change settings during install, but after trying the no button, several times I then picked the yes and it installed in seconds. And it works, it fixed my spell checker in all my programs that didn't work.
After I installed it, I ran both Ad-aware 6.0 and Viruscan... Viruscan did find 1 file infected with a virus but that file could be something else since my computer had updated the day before and wasn't run afterward update. It was cleaned out and sent to quaratine with no lasting affects. You should run a virus scan before and afterwards to make sure its safe and post any virus info you get to let others know if its safe... because I didn't think to save that info beforehand. But if you want a program to fix the spell checker problem this one did and it took less than 5 minutes to download and install.
