Hello, i have an semi-old computer that i bought 2000. It
originally was a Windows ME and was working fine speed
wise but then i upgraded it to Xp and i knew it was going
to get slower but i never spected to be this slow. I have
defragmented it a lot of times, also have tried getting
some spyware destroyed and clean the disk drive. Is there
any other way that i can speed up my computer even a
little, with out getting a program from the internet?
Please help if you can... I appreaciate it

try overclocking it, if your bios will allow

Hi

Did you run the Upgrade Advisor:

"HOW TO: Prepare to Upgrade Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition to
Windows XP"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316639&Product=winxp

"HOW TO: Troubleshoot Windows XP Problems During Installation When You
Upgrade from Windows 98 or Windows Me"

Don't try overclocking, you may get other problems then.

There are services that you probeably don't need that
take up memory and disk usage. Check out

http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/supertweaks.htm

There is no software to download. You need adjust your
services that run. You do that by opening control panel/
performance and maintenance / adminstration tools/ click
services. Or just follow the instructions. One note, the
recomondation is to turn of system restore. My
recomondation is to turn it on whenever you need to
install any software. Another link from this site gives a
grid that aligns with your services . I give this to you
to make life a little easier
