Special Effects not working

I am trying to add a special effect to a word on my index page. I checked
the "blink" box on the Font screen. It did nothing. I then read in "help"
about "Dynamic HTML Effects". I did what that said, using the HTML Effects
toolbar, the effect is supposedly there, but when I preview the page, it
doesn't work. I went to my page options and under the Compatibility tab, the
Dynamic HTML box IS checked. I don't know what else to do. Why isn't my
special effect working???

Can't answer your question, but are you really sure you want to use 'blink'
.... most people hate it and might leave your site.
ETC

Check it with File | Preview In Browser

Check your browser setting under Internet Tools | Advanced

What specifically am I looking for? The "enable visual styles ... in web
pages" box is checked. Is there something else that I need to check or
uncheck?

blink is not a globally supported tag and is not a recommended tag

IMHO - don't use it
Studies have shown that any blinking text or animation can adversely affect any epileptic

Blink is a Navigator only tag, it will not work with other browsers like IE
(though it may work with Mozilla or it's derivitaves). Blink is not DHTML,
just a tag that Netscape threw into Navigator early on when the web was
rather dull. It's hardly ever used today because a lot of people really
became agitated at blinking text, and some users can be thrown into seizures
by blinking objects of a particular color red.

Hope this helps,

Ok, I found that and it is already checked.

You are testing the page directly in your browser or via File Menu | Preview in Browser from within
FP and you do not have Windows XP SP2 installed, correct?

I've tested it in the preview in Front Page and also via File Menu/Preview in
Browser. I do have Windows XP but I don't know what "SP2" is.

SP2 = Service Pack 2.
You can check to see if you have this by right clicking on My Computer | Properties

Is there some way I can just IM you instead of having to keep waiting on this
posting? I have AOL IM.

why not post the URL to the page in question that way we can see if it 'should' work?

Sorry, I don't use any IM service, nor do I use AOL.

It would be best to publish the site/page to a location on the Internet and then post a URL here so
that others, beside me can help you, as I will not be reading or posting here much from now till the
end of January 2005.

The blink tag is not supported in Internet Explorer. If you want something to blink in IE, it must
be done with javascript.
