Spanned Volumes

I have a Barton Core AMD athlon 2.8 and want to set up spanned volumes at 3
disks X 160Gb each. Do I need to upgrade the processor? How about the bios
for this level of storage?
 
Processor isn't an issue, and the BIOS should be current enough to
handle those drives. Spanning is done in the operating system.
