Yahoo email users have been warned of an email scam where spammers try to take over their email account.
The spammers are trying to dupe users into creating email accounts which will act as channels for spam.
IT security firm MessageLabs warned that these fake email requests, which claim to help Yahoo prevent automated registrations, contain fake Yahoo.com URL. Users are then redirected through a Google URL three times to disguise the link.
Users are then redirected to another fake Yahoo web address that loads a real Yahoo help page with legitimate information explaining the code verification process.
Alex Shipp, senior anti-virus technologist at MessageLabs, said: “This scam is another demonstration of how spammers and fraudsters attempt to manipulate computer users into doing their dirty work for them.”
