I was wondering if there was a way to find the parent of
a process, kinda like in Unix. I found these files and
I'm sure that they are spam and popups but Adaware and
Spybot (both updated) will not get rid of these 4 ads
that keep coming up. I've spent hours trying to get rid
of these cause they affect my online gaming (Halo) when
they close my game to tell me about some diet patch or
casino. I've done scan after scan and went in and looked
at the add/remove programs and even went through every
folder but I can't seem to find where they are hiding. I
did the alt+ctrl+del and looked at the processes and
found this one that didn't make since so I ended it. 2
seconds later a new one came up and so I ended that one
too. Then the third but I found the file in
c:\windows\system32 and tried just deleting the file.
Well it worked but 2 seconds later another one came up. I
should note that every time I deleted one or ended one a
new one would come up but it would just rotate between 4
different names. Right now I have the same 4 popups so
I'm pretty sure it's coming from these files. Anyway I
know that there has to be a program on top of this one
that is causing these new files and processes to come
about. So I need to know how to find the parent of a
process so that I may delete or remove whatever is
causing this. I'm pretty computer literate but I've never
heard of being able to find the parent of a process
unless you're talking about a Unix system. I'm just
hoping that it's so far advanced for Windows that it's
almost a secret and somebody out there knows about all
this and can fill me in. Also I am running XP pro just to
help ya out a little.
Thank you for your help.
