every time my computer starts my computers security alearts displays a
message saying that "norton antivirus reports that it is installed, but its
status is unknown" what do i need to do to prevent this.if you need any other
information plese post a message.
thank you very much

there is a patch from norton. update antivirus everyday,
not once a week.
and don't trust the xp firewall for security. use a real
firewall. free on at zonelabs.com free zonealarm
and turn off the security center, reports are that it is
nothing but a pain in the butt.

i update antivirus but i am still receiving that message. you want me to just
disable the security center.

The patch for the SP2 fix is a separate update program that must be
installed. Go to the following website to get the patch.

Symantec Support:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/sp2/faq.html

Click the Automated Solutions Tab and then click the "Start the automated
support assistant" button. This will scan your drive for Symantec products
and tell you what you need to download to make Norton compliant with the SP2
update.

symantec's website it did not tell me any thing about compliant with sp2 up
date. i followed all the step that you gave to me.

Hi

To avoid the message:

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way Security
Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.
