I was wondering, since I have a dial-up and my father has
a cable modem, if it was possible to first download SP2
to a CD and then install it on my computer. Then he could
run windows update and it would see it is not on his and
download it on his? Also, I know this is down the road
whenever SP2 comes out, if I did get it to a CD would it
be an exe file and start on its own or would I have to do
something else. I am thankful for all here who have
helped me out and for the knowledge you have given me
about windows XP. Like I said, I know this is down the
road some.
Thank you very much.

Allan,

Yes - you can download the single large file to CD and then run it on
another machine, but do not do anything with Windows update, just execute
the downloaded file on the other machine from the CD.

The final CD for SP2 will autorun and present you with all the information
you need a link to click to start the install.
